Google has long been the go-to platform for search engines, but it’s now making more money from its own traffic.
The search engine giant has said that its revenues from its search engine grew 40% in the fourth quarter of this year, up from 33% in Q1 of the previous year.
Google also said it had revenue from advertising on its own YouTube and Google Play platforms grew 15%.
The company’s share price rose after the news, rising as much as 1% in after-hours trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
The news came after Google said that revenue from its YouTube business, which includes search and video, rose 28% to $3.2 billion.
Google has been in a bit of a slow recovery, with its earnings slowing down in the last quarter of 2016.
Its revenue from Google Play, a mobile app-based platform that is a mainstay of the tech industry, declined by 9% to nearly $1.8 billion in the quarter.
Despite Google’s success, Google still makes a lot of money from advertising.
In the last six months, Google’s advertising revenues have grown by 25% year-on-year to $1,719.7 million, the company said in a statement.
“Google’s revenue from YouTube, Google Play and Google Cloud Platform continues to grow strongly, driven by strong growth in Google Search and YouTube, which now account for about 70% of the company’s total revenue,” the statement said.
“In addition, YouTube has more than doubled in number of daily active users, from 4.1 million in the third quarter to 12.4 million today, and Google’s Cloud Platform has more users than any other platform.”
The recent record-breaking growth in revenue from advertisers is reflected in our operating income and our revenue from ad-supported products and services.
“Google’s earnings come as Google is struggling to compete with Amazon and Facebook, which both have huge market share.
Google’s earnings from search and mobile operating income dropped 5% to about $2.5 billion.
Google is also struggling to find its footing in its search advertising business, where it has been accused of making misleading and inaccurate information to advertisers.
Google also said that Google Play revenue has also increased in the latest quarter, and that it expects to generate $1 billion in revenue this year.
