With a full calendar of games still to come, the NHL’s schedule will start to get really crowded and the league will have to make a decision about when and where it will play its home games.
That will happen this coming weekend.
The league announced Friday that the Toronto Maple Leafs will play their home games at Air Canada Centre on April 22 against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightning also will play in the same venue this weekend.
It will be the first time since 2007 that the Maple Leafs and Rangers have played at home in a season.
The Islanders will play against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday, April 23.
The Sabres, who play at home against the Minnesota Wild, will host the Toronto Marlies at their home on Sunday, April 24.
The Rangers and Maple Leafs have been the only NHL teams to play in Toronto for decades, so it will be interesting to see how many other games the league can play there before the NHL Games are set to start on April 15.
As for other games to come for the league, the Rangers and Leafs have the same number of games scheduled for next season as the NHL and the NHLPA.
The Islanders and Penguins will be playing their next home games on April 27.
The Canucks will host a game on April 31.
The NHL has not released a schedule yet for next year.
The season begins March 1 and will run through March 31, when the NHL will hold its Winter Classic.
